1 John 3:6 NLT
Anyone who continues to live in him will not sin. But anyone who keeps on sinning does not know him or understand who he is.
What does “to live in Him” look like?
It looks like a person who knows where they are in all of this with a consistent and increasing desire to get to know Jesus in a deeper, more meaningful way every day.
2 Peter 1:3-9 NLT
By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
It is someone reading the Bible with a submitted heart and mind, letting these life-changing words affect their lives with a change in thoughts, attitudes, and actions.
Joshua 1:8 NLT
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.
Look at the promise: “Only then will you prosper and succeed in you do.”
That makes my heart swell with joy.
It is someone who realizes the seriousness of sin in light of our Holy God and is in a consistent pattern of seeing that sin and recognizing it as a gross offense to God and turning from it.
James 4:8-9 NLT
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world. Let there be tears for what you have done. Let there be sorrow and deep grief. Let there be sadness instead of laughter, and gloom instead of joy.
Philippians 2:12-13 NLT
Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.
It is someone humble, willing to serve those around them. We should start to see others with soft eyes, not critical or judging, but with compassion and a desire to help willingly.
Philippians 2:14-15 NLT
Do everything without complaining and arguing, so that no one can criticize you. Live clean, innocent lives as children of God, shining like bright lights in a world full of crooked and perverse people.
This will be met by a watching world that will not understand and will be met with persecution.
The good news is if we keep our eyes focused on the coming glory of Jesus Christ, He will lift us and give us the strength to “stand firm.”
He will call on us when it is inconvenient and uncomfortable. Our response should be, “Here I am,” our response can be used to soften hearts and bring others into the saving grace of Jesus Christ or encouragement to a believer who needs to be lifted.
1 Peter 5:6-7 NLT
So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor. Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.
James 4:10 NLT
Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.
Heavenly Father, please accept my life as a living sacrifice to help bring about Your will.
Please continue Your work in my life, providing me with the courage, strength, and discernment to know when You call on me.
Let my thoughts, attitudes, and actions reflect Your will for my life. Please give me the desire to continue to grow in Your grace and mercy.
I am grateful for every breath I take; let me take that life-giving breath and praise You with everything I say and do.
Let my life stand as a beacon of hope, grace, and forgiveness to the watching world, and I pray that You provide me the strength, hope, and courage to take action that glorifies You.
In the gracious, merciful and loving name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen !! 🙏❤️
