1 Corinthians 13:4-6 NLT
Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out.
WOW… What a couple of months we have had experienced.
It has been quite disturbing, especially over the last couple of weeks, starting with the video of George Floyd being murdered, followed by the protests and looting that has been taking place in cities all over the United States.
So what do we do, as Christians, with all that we have going in this world right now?
There is no place for a Christian to involved in civil disobedience. Period.
We live in a country that has laws and processes that address crime. We have courts and law enforcement agencies that are in place to see that justice is done.
What happened to George Floyd was nothing short of murder, and the officers involved should be held accountable for their crimes.
But this takes patience.
The problem that we have is that as a society, we have gotten to the point where we pick and choose which laws we are going to enforce and which ones we are not going to apply.
Doing this has caused a lot of confusion.
And by doing this, we no longer have a sense of right and wrong. And with the world-changing and the speed that we get information, we want an instant judgment and satisfaction.
But as Christians, let’s be honest, sometimes we do this with the Word of God. We choose the things that we are going to follow and which ones we will take more significant liberties with, like the Word of God is a buffet.
But what commands does God want us to follow?
All of them. But we can only do that with the Spirit of God living in our hearts. Without that, none of it matters.
Here’s what I know, NO ONE escapes God’s justice. NOBODY escapes.
Romans 12:19 NLT
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say, “I will take revenge; I will pay them back,” says the LORD.
The rioting and violent reactions that we are witnessing are not righteous. And there is no place for a Christian to be involved in any of it.
Romans 12:17 NLT
Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable.
What does looting and destroying the property of others do to serve justice?
There is a battle going on, and it is becoming more and more evident every day. But it is not the type of fighting that the media would like us to think it is.
Ephesians 6:12 NLT
For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Heavenly Father, I pray for healing for our society. I pray that You raise leaders that are submitted to Your Word.
I pray for Your peace, the peace that is beyond our understanding.
I pray for mercy, Lord. You have put a lot on us, and I pray that You will give us the strength and courage to carry on despite the troubles we face.
I know that trials are meant to strengthen us; I pray for the discernment to see the lesson in the current tests.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
