Mark 10:46-52 NLT
Then they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they called the blind man. “Cheer up,” they said. “Come on, he’s calling you!” Bartimaeus threw aside his coat, jumped up, and came to Jesus. “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “My Rabbi, ” the blind man said, “I want to see!” And Jesus said to him, “Go, for your faith has healed you.” Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road.
When God softens the heart ❤️, Jesus will be there for us to shout out too.
People may try to shut us down, but we must persist. (Note: We must never be a barrier to the saving grace of our Lord and Savior, our lives and how we live should be welcoming to the lost around us).
Jesus will ask us, ”What do you want me to do?”
Our response to this question should always be, ”I want to see.”
What should we desire to see?
1. The truth – our hearts should always be open to the truth as the Bible says the truth is.
The truth about who we are before God.
The truth about unresolved sin in our lives.
The truth about how we should act around others.
2. His promise – the Bible is rich with the promise of things to come for those who lay their lives down for the Good News.
And look at what happens when he admits to Jesus about what he wants, the response is…
”Go, for your faith has healed you.”
The believer’s response to this was an instant sight and he followed Jesus immediately.
The saving grace is always by faith, followed instantly by the desire to follow Jesus unconditionally.
Key!! 🙏🏻❤️
