But His will does not stop there.&nbsp;<strong>God wants you to be sanctified<\/strong>\u2014to grow in holiness, becoming more like Christ in your thoughts, actions, and desires. Sanctification is not optional. It\u2019s central to living in God\u2019s will.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-the-biblical-command-for-sanctification\"><strong>1. The Biblical Command for Sanctification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>1 Thessalonians 4:3\u20134<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cFor this is the will of God, your sanctification; that is, that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>1 Peter 1:15\u201316<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cBut like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written: \u2018You shall be holy, for I am holy.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Hebrews 12:14<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cPursue peace with all people, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Sanctification means living set apart for God\u2019s purposes, rejecting sin, and reflecting His character.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-the-two-sides-of-sanctification\"><strong>2. The Two Sides of Sanctification<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-positional-sanctification\"><strong>Positional Sanctification<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nbsp-what-god-declares-at-salvation\"><strong>&nbsp;\u2013 What God Declares at Salvation<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>1 Corinthians 6:11<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cBut you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and in the Spirit of our God.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">At salvation, God sets you apart as His own. This is immediate and complete in His sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-progressive-sanctification\"><strong>Progressive Sanctification<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-nbsp-what-god-develops-over-time\"><strong>&nbsp;\u2013 What God Develops Over Time<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Philippians 1:6<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cFor I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work among you will complete it by the day of Christ Jesus.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Progressive sanctification is the daily growth of becoming more like Christ, which continues throughout your life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-biblical-examples-of-sanctified-living\"><strong>3. Biblical Examples of Sanctified Living<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-joseph-genesis-39\"><strong>Joseph \u2013 Genesis 39<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Joseph refused the advances of Potiphar\u2019s wife, saying,&nbsp;<em>\u201cHow then could I do this great evil and sin against God?\u201d<\/em>&nbsp;He valued obedience over comfort and chose prison over compromise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-daniel-daniel-1-8\"><strong>Daniel \u2013 Daniel 1:8<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Daniel \u201cmade up his mind\u201d not to defile himself with the king\u2019s food. His decision to honor God set the course for his entire life and testimony.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-paul-acts-20-24\"><strong>Paul \u2013 Acts 20:24<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Paul counted his life as nothing compared to finishing the course God gave him\u2014preaching the Gospel faithfully.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-how-sanctification-happens\"><strong>4. How Sanctification Happens<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>By God\u2019s Word<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>John 17:17<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cSanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>By the Holy Spirit<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>2 Thessalonians 2:13<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201c\u2026God has chosen you from the beginning for salvation through sanctification by the Spirit and faith in the truth.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>By Obedience<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>James 1:22<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201cBut prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>By Avoiding Sin<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>Romans 6:19<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<em>\u201c\u2026present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Sanctification is God\u2019s work in you, but it requires your cooperation through obedience and dependence on His Spirit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-living-a-sanctified-life-in-2025\"><strong>5. Living a Sanctified Life in 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In a world that normalizes sin and blurs moral lines, sanctification is more countercultural than ever. To live sanctified today:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Set personal boundaries aligned with God\u2019s Word.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Guard your mind from immoral and destructive influences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Surround yourself with believers who encourage holiness.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Practice quick repentance when you fall short.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-conclusion-god-s-will-is-your-holiness\"><strong>Conclusion: God\u2019s Will Is Your Holiness<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Sanctification is not about being \u201cbetter than others\u201d\u2014it\u2019s about becoming more like Jesus. The world needs to see believers whose lives are visibly different because they reflect God\u2019s holiness. And Jesus is the only thing you should measure yourself against, not those around you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-prayer-for-sanctification\"><strong>Prayer for Sanctification:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>Heavenly Father,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Thank You for setting me apart as Your own. Help me to walk in holiness, to resist temptation, and to reflect Your character in all I do. Fill me with Your Spirit and renew my mind daily through Your Word. Make me more like Jesus every day.
