This is not just a warning about behavior\u2014it\u2019s a&nbsp;<strong>call to purity at the heart level<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">In a world saturated with sexual content, instant access, and distorted intimacy, this teaching from Jesus is not only relevant\u2014it\u2019s revolutionary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-is-jesus-speaking-to\"><strong>Who Is Jesus Speaking To?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He\u2019s still addressing His disciples and the crowd, teaching them that righteousness is far more than rule-following.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">It\u2019s a heart condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He speaks to men and women, religious leaders and fishermen, married and single alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And He speaks to us\u2014<strong>in our phones, our thoughts, and our private moments<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-jesus-said-matthew-5-27-30-nasb\"><strong>What Jesus Said: Matthew 5:27\u201330 (NASB)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><strong>27\u00a0\u201cYou have heard that it was said, \u2018You shall not commit adultery\u2019; 28\u00a0but I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman with lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29\u00a0Now if your right eye is causing you to sin, tear it out and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30\u00a0And if your right hand is causing you to sin, cut it off and throw it away from you; for it is better for you to lose one of the parts of your body, than for your whole body to go into hell.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happened\"><strong>What Happened?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus intensifies the Law\u2014not to crush us, but to&nbsp;<strong>awaken us<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Adultery doesn\u2019t start in the bedroom\u2014it begins in the\u00a0<strong>mind and eyes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">His message is clear:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><em><strong>\u201cLust isn\u2019t harmless. It\u2019s heart-level adultery.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">This was (and still is) radically countercultural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Instead of managing sin, Jesus calls us to&nbsp;<strong>eliminate access to it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tear-it-out-cut-it-off\"><strong>Tear It Out? Cut It Off?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus uses hyperbole\u2014dramatic language to make a point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He\u2019s not commanding literal mutilation. He\u2019s calling for&nbsp;<strong>radical action<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If your eye, your phone, your app, your habit, or your late-night scroll is causing sin\u2014<strong>get rid of it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><em><strong>\u201cIt is better for you to lose\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\">In other words:&nbsp;<strong>It\u2019s worth the cost to live free.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong><em>Action Step:<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Identify the \u201cgateway\u201d in your life that leads to lust. Remove it. Not tomorrow\u2014today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mood-of-the-scene\"><strong>Mood of the Scene<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Heavy, sobering, direct\u2014but full of grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus isn\u2019t condemning. He\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>confronting in love<\/strong>. He knows the cost of sin and the power of purity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He\u2019s not asking for perfection\u2014He\u2019s inviting us into&nbsp;<strong>freedom<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-response-from-the-people\"><strong>Response from the People<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus\u2019 words undoubtedly stunned His listeners.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">They were used to external checklists. But Jesus was going deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The religious elite kept the letter of the law\u2014Jesus was&nbsp;<strong>after the spirit behind it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And He still is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-this-means-for-us-in-2025\"><strong>What This Means for Us in 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Let\u2019s be honest:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Lust is mainstream.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Temptation is a swipe away.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Culture mocks purity and celebrates indulgence.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">But Jesus doesn\u2019t lower the bar. He raises it\u2014and&nbsp;<strong>then empowers us by His Spirit<\/strong>&nbsp;to live above the noise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-apply-this-now\"><strong>How to Apply This Now:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Recognize<\/strong>\u00a0that lust begins in the heart. Don\u2019t justify \u201cjust looking.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Remove access points, set filters, delete apps, and <\/strong>change habits.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Refocus your desire<\/strong>\u2014pursue God\u2019s presence more than momentary pleasure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Repent, don\u2019t retreat.<\/strong>\u00a0God\u2019s grace restores, but it also transforms.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Reach out.<\/strong>\u00a0Don\u2019t fight in isolation. Find accountability and healing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-final-prayer\"><strong>Final Prayer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus, You see what I try to hide. Purify my heart and guard my eyes. Give me the strength to cut off what tempts me and the courage to walk in purity. I don\u2019t want to settle for culture\u2019s standards\u2014I want to live by Kingdom truth. Make me holy, because You are.
