Jesus had just touched a leper and healed him. Now, He\u2019s approached by someone unexpected\u2014a Roman centurion<\/strong>, a Gentile, and a symbol of the occupying empire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This soldier didn\u2019t ask Jesus to come and lay hands. He believed that if Jesus just spoke<\/strong>, it would be enough.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And Jesus marveled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who Is Jesus Speaking To?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Jesus is speaking with a\u00a0Roman centurion<\/strong>\u2014a military officer in command of about 100 soldiers. Culturally and politically, he is an outsider. Yet, Jesus gives him His full attention, and more importantly, His praise<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5\u00a0And when Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion came to Him, begging Him, 6\u00a0and saying, \u201cLord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, terribly tormented.\u201d 7\u00a0Jesus\u00a0said to him,<\/em>\u00a0\u201cI will come and heal him.\u201d 8\u00a0But the centurion replied, \u201cLord, I am not worthy for You to come under my roof, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9\u00a0For I also am a man under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, \u2018Go!\u2019 and he goes, and to another, \u2018Come!\u2019 and he comes, and to my slave, \u2018Do this!\u2019 and he does it.\u201d 10\u00a0Now when Jesus heard this, He was amazed and said to those who were following, \u201cTruly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel. 11\u00a0And I say to you that many will come from the east and west, and will recline at the table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven; 12\u00a0but the sons of the kingdom will be thrown out into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.\u201d 13\u00a0And Jesus said to the centurion, \u201cGo; it shall be done for you as you have believed.\u201d And the servant was healed at that very moment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The Centurion\u2019s Faith: Humble, Bold, and Clear<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This wasn\u2019t showy faith. It was\u00a0a quiet conviction<\/strong>\u00a0in the authority of Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The centurion didn\u2019t need a sign. He didn\u2019t need a ritual. He believed that Jesus\u2019 spoken word<\/strong> held the power of healing\u2014because he understood what authority looked like.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Action Step:\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Trust Jesus in His word. If He said it, it\u2019s settled. You don\u2019t need a sign\u2014just the\u00a0Scripture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI Am Not Worthy\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This Gentile officer recognized his unworthiness<\/strong>\u2014a remarkable contrast to the religious leaders of the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His humility opened the door to divine intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Action Step:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Humility is the gateway to miracles. Ask: \u201cAm I approaching Jesus from pride or from surrender?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moreover, He warns Israel that outsiders, like this centurion, would enter the kingdom, while many who assumed they belonged would not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Action Step:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Faith is not a label\u2014it\u2019s a\u00a0lifestyle<\/strong>. Live like someone who trusts Jesus with everything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This moment redefines who can come to Jesus. Not based on birth, heritage, or title\u2014but on faith<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Centurion\u2019s Response<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

He believed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He trusted Jesus to act even without physical proof.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And the result? His servant was healed at that very moment<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We live in a world that demands instant evidence and constant validation. Yet the centurion reminds us: true faith believes before it sees<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  5. Stand firm when others doubt\u2014Jesus honors bold, quiet faith.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Final Prayer<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    Lord, like the centurion, I know I\u2019m not worthy\u2014but I trust Your word. Speak into my life. Speak healing, strength, direction, and peace. Let my faith cause You to marvel\u2014not because of its size, but because of its surrender. In Jesus\u2019 name, Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
