They were used to fasting as an act of mourning, repentance, and expectation of the Messiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">But Jesus\u2019 disciples&nbsp;<strong>weren\u2019t fasting<\/strong>\u2014why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Because the&nbsp;<strong>Messiah was already with them<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><em><strong>Action Step:<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Don\u2019t fast out of habit. Fast to draw near to Jesus, not to earn His presence. He\u2019s already with you\u2014let your fasting reflect that closeness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-you-can-t-patch-the-old\"><strong>\u201cYou Can\u2019t Patch the Old\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus compares their way of thinking to&nbsp;<strong>trying to patch old clothes with new fabric<\/strong>. It doesn\u2019t work. It will tear worse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He\u2019s not here to reinforce old religion. They can\u2019t hold the fermenting power of&nbsp;<strong>new wine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus is the&nbsp;<strong>new wine<\/strong>\u2014full of Spirit, power, and life. But unless our hearts become&nbsp;<strong>new vessels<\/strong>, we\u2019ll miss the move of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong><em>Action Step:<\/em>\u00a0<\/strong>Make space for transformation. You can\u2019t carry fresh anointing with a rigid mindset. Let the Spirit stretch your heart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-this-means-for-us-in-2025\"><strong>What This Means for Us in 2025<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">We live in a time when old religious routines are being shaken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus is still calling His people to&nbsp;<strong>fast\u2014not as a performance, but as preparation.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">He is asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Are you fasting for Me or to impress others?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Are you ready for something fresh?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Will you become a vessel that can hold what I\u2019m pouring out?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-application-for-today\"><strong>Application for Today:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Fast with purpose\u2014not out of pressure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Examine your inner \u201cwineskin.\u201d Are you soft and teachable?<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Embrace new ways God is working in your life.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Don\u2019t patch up old habits. Teach me to fast with revelation, not religion. Stretch my heart to receive Your new wine. I surrender the old so You can fill me with Your power and truth. I want to be made new.
