It\u2019s a radical call, but one that comes with&nbsp;<strong>eternal reward<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-matthew-16-24-28-nasb-2020\">Matthew 16:24\u201328 (NASB 2020)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><strong>24\u00a0Then Jesus said to His disciples, \u201cIf anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow Me. 25\u00a0For whoever wants to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. 26\u00a0For what good will it do a person if he gains the whole world, but forfeits his soul? Or what will a person give in exchange for his soul? 27\u00a0For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and will then repay every person according to his deeds. 28\u00a0Truly I say to you, there are some of those standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in His kingdom.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-who-was-jesus-speaking-to\">Who Was Jesus Speaking To?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">His\u00a0<strong>disciples<\/strong>, immediately after Peter was rebuked<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">All\u00a0<strong>future followers<\/strong>, including you and me in 2025<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happened\">What Happened?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Jesus taught the\u00a0<strong>cost of following Him<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">He laid out three steps:\u00a0<strong>deny self, carry cross, follow Him<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">He exposed the\u00a0<strong>futility of worldly success<\/strong>\u00a0compared to the value of the soul<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">He promised a future\u00a0<strong>reward and accountability<\/strong>\u00a0for every person<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-mood-intense-sobering-empowering\">The Mood: Intense, Sobering, Empowering<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">Jesus delivers a direct and difficult truth<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The disciples likely felt the\u00a0<strong>weight<\/strong>\u00a0of this new standard<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Yet His words are also filled with\u00a0<strong>hope and future glory<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-principle-discipleship-is-a-daily-death-that-leads-to-eternal-life\">The Principle: Discipleship Is a Daily Death That Leads to Eternal Life<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">You cannot follow Christ\u00a0<strong>without surrendering self<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The cross isn\u2019t just a symbol\u2014it\u2019s a lifestyle of obedience<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">There is\u00a0<strong>no profit in winning the world and losing your soul<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Christ\u00a0<strong>rewards those who walk faithfully<\/strong>, even when it hurts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-audience-response-then\">Audience Response (Then)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The disciples were challenged to rethink their view of success, greatness, and the Messiah\u2019s mission. They had to process that&nbsp;<strong>following Jesus meant sacrifice, not status<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-this-means-for-us-in-2025\">What This Means for Us in 2025<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Discipleship is still the narrow road today. In a world obsessed with comfort, image, and control, Jesus calls us to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Let go of self-centeredness<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Live courageously countercultural lives<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Stay faithful when it\u2019s not popular or convenient<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">If we want resurrection power, we must walk the path of&nbsp;<strong>cross-bearing surrender<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-action-steps-for-today\">Action Steps for Today<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Identify where the self is still on the throne.<\/strong>\u00a0Surrender it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Say no to comfort when obedience costs more.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Serve someone without being seen or rewarded.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Set your eyes on eternity.<\/strong>\u00a0This life isn\u2019t all there is.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Embrace the hard road.<\/strong>\u00a0That\u2019s where transformation happens.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-final-prayer\">Final Prayer<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus, thank You for calling me to something deeper than comfort. Help me carry my cross daily and follow You fully. Keep my heart fixed on eternity, and give me courage to surrender what I cannot keep for what I cannot lose. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\"><strong>If you&#8217;re not carrying a cross, you\u2019re not on the path Jesus walked.
