In this context, the phrase whoever is not against us takes on special meaning. This teaching confronts the instinct to control spiritual authority and reminds believers that God\u2019s work is often broader than our circles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-focus-of-the-passage-and-jesus-character\">Key Focus of the Passage and Jesus\u2019 Character<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The focus is&nbsp;<strong>kingdom humility and unity<\/strong>. Jesus reveals Himself as&nbsp;<strong>secure, generous, and expansive<\/strong>&nbsp;in His mission. He is not threatened by others serving in His name.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scripture-mark-9-38-41-nasb\">\ud83d\udcd6 Scripture: Mark 9:38\u201341 (NASB)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><strong>John said to Him, \u201cTeacher, we saw someone casting out demons in Your name, and we tried to stop him because he was not following us.\u201d But Jesus said, \u201cDo not stop him; for there is no one who will perform a miracle in My name, and be able soon afterward to speak evil of Me. For he who is not against us is for us. For whoever gives you a cup of water to drink because of your name as followers of Christ, truly I say to you, he will not lose his reward.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-people-jesus-interacted-with\">The People Jesus Interacted With<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus speaks with&nbsp;<strong>John and the other disciples<\/strong>, who are concerned about control and legitimacy. Jesus corrects them, explaining that faithful action in His name matters more than organizational belonging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-mood-and-tone\">Mood and Tone<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The tone is&nbsp;<strong>corrective yet freeing<\/strong>.
