Consequently, this scene would immediately resonate with them. They understand the power of Roman courts and the weight of a governor\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-focus-of-the-passage-and-jesus-character\"><strong>Key Focus of the Passage and Jesus\u2019 Character<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The focus is\u00a0on <strong>Jesus\u2019 innocence contrasted with political manipulation<\/strong>. Pilate questioned Him, \u201cAre You the King of the Jews?\u201d And He answered him, \u201cIt is as you say.\u201d The chief priests began to accuse Him harshly. Then Pilate questioned Him again, saying, \u201cDo You not answer? See how many charges they bring against You!\u201d But Jesus made no further answer; so Pilate was amazed.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-people-jesus-interacted-with\"><strong>The People Jesus Interacted With<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus stands before&nbsp;<strong>Pontius Pilate<\/strong>, the Roman governor. Around Him are&nbsp;<strong>the chief priests<\/strong>, who press accusations, and the&nbsp;<strong>crowd<\/strong>, who will soon be stirred into demanding His execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-happened-in-the-scene\"><strong>What Happened in the Scene<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The Jewish leaders bind Jesus and deliver Him to Pilate. The charge now becomes political: they accuse Jesus of claiming kingship. Pilate questions Jesus directly, and Jesus briefly acknowledges the charge.
