Now Simon\u2019s mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Him to help her. And standing over her, He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she immediately got up and waited on them. While the sun was setting, all those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to Him; and laying His hands on each one of them, He was healing them. Demons also were coming out of many, shouting, \u201cYou are the Son of God!\u201d But rebuking them, He would not allow them to speak, because they knew Him to be the Christ.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-focus-of-the-passage-and-jesus-character\"><strong>Key Focus of the Passage and Jesus\u2019 Character<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The focus is\u00a0on <strong>Jesus\u2019 authority over sickness and His compassion for people<\/strong>. There, Simon\u2019s mother-in-law is suffering from a high fever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Jesus responds immediately. He rebukes the fever, and it leaves her at once. She is not only healed\u2014she is restored enough to begin serving others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Later that evening, people bring many who are sick or oppressed.
