Not a religious leader. Not a disciple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">A Roman centurion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And through this interaction, Jesus encounters a level of faith that stands above the rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-audience-luke-is-writing-to\"><strong>The Audience Luke Is Writing To<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Luke continues writing to&nbsp;<strong>Theophilus and readers seeking certainty about who Jesus is and how faith works<\/strong>. Therefore, he includes this moment to show that faith is not limited by background, position, or status.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Luke 7:1\u201310 (NASB)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"\"><strong>When He had completed all His discourse in the hearing of the people, He went to Capernaum. And a centurion\u2019s slave, who was highly regarded by him, was sick and about to die. When he heard about Jesus, he sent some Jewish elders asking Him to come and save the life of his slave. When they came to Jesus, they earnestly implored Him, saying, \u201cHe is worthy for You to grant this to him; for he loves our nation and it was he who built us our synagogue.\u201d Now Jesus started on His way with them; and when He was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to Him, \u201cLord, do not trouble Yourself further, for I am not worthy for You to come under my roof; for this reason I did not even consider myself worthy to come to You, but just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I also am a man placed under authority, with soldiers under me; and I say to this one, \u2018Go!\u2019 and he goes, and to another, \u2018Come!\u2019 and he comes, and to my slave, \u2018Do this!\u2019 and he does it.\u201d Now when Jesus heard this, He marveled at him, and turned and said to the crowd that was following Him, \u201cI say to you, not even in Israel have I found such great faith.\u201d When those who had been sent returned to the house, they found the slave in good health.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-key-focus-of-the-passage-and-jesus-character\"><strong>Key Focus of the Passage and Jesus\u2019 Character<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The focus is&nbsp;<strong>faith, humility, and authority<\/strong>.
