Therefore, immediately after Jesus institutes the Lord\u2019s Supper and announces His coming betrayal, Luke records an astonishing conversation among the disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The timing could hardly be more shocking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jesus has just spoken about His body being broken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

His blood is being poured out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yet the disciples begin arguing about which of them is the greatest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Earthly rulers often exercise authority by domination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They enjoy titles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Recognition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Influence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    They even call themselves \u201cBenefactors,\u201d suggesting that their rule exists for the good of others, even as it often serves their own interests.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Then Jesus says:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \u201cBut it is not this way with you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With those words, He establishes an entirely different model of leadership.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The greatest must become like the youngest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      No one has ever led more powerfully by serving more completely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Jesus explains that earthly kingdoms often function through visible displays of power.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          That is not weakness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          It is divine strength expressed through love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Every believer eventually faces the same decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Will I pursue recognition?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Or will I pursue faithfulness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Because in God\u2019s Kingdom, the people who leave the deepest impact are rarely those seeking to become the greatest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          They are those most willing to become servants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          So the question becomes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Am I measuring success by the position I hold\u2014or by the people I faithfully serve in the name of Christ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
