class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 marks another major transition in the Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Until now, Jesus has revealed His authority through:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">turning water into wine,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">cleansing the Temple,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">healing the official&#8217;s son,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">healing the disabled man at Bethesda,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">and declaring His equality with the Father.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now John records the only miracle\u2014other than the resurrection\u2014found in <strong>all four Gospels<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That fact alone tells us something important.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The feeding of the five thousand is not merely another miracle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is a turning point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From this chapter forward, Jesus begins speaking with increasing clarity about His identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crowds that once followed Him because of miracles will now be confronted with the cost of genuine discipleship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 is therefore both an invitation and a dividing line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many begin the chapter amazed by Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many end the chapter walking away from Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-key-focus-of-john-6\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Focus of John 6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The central theme is not bread.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nor miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nor even hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The central theme is this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Jesus alone satisfies the deepest hunger of humanity because He alone came down from heaven to give eternal life.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything else in the chapter supports that truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-why-this-chapter-matters\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why This Chapter Matters<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 introduces some of the greatest doctrines in Scripture:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-jesus-as-the-greater-moses\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus as the Greater Moses<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Moses gave manna.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus gives Himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-bread-of-life\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Bread of Life<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Physical bread sustains earthly life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ sustains eternal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-god-s-sovereign-grace\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">God&#8217;s Sovereign Grace<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salvation begins with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Human response is essential, yet always grounded in the Father&#8217;s gracious initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-true-discipleship\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">True Discipleship<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many admire Jesus until His teaching becomes costly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John distinguishes between curious followers and committed disciples.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-faith\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Faith<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faith is not merely receiving miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is receiving Christ Himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-eternal-security\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eternal Security<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus repeatedly promises never to lose those whom the Father has given Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-cross\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Cross<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The language of eating His flesh and drinking His blood points beyond the miracle to His sacrificial death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-great-pattern-of-john-6\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Great Pattern of John 6<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of John&#8217;s favorite literary methods appears throughout this chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First comes the sign.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then comes the explanation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The miracle is never the destination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It points to a greater reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The bread points to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The water points to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The light points to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything ultimately points to Christ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-great-question\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Great Question<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 repeatedly asks one question.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What satisfies the human soul?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">People spend their lives pursuing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">success,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">comfort,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">relationships,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">wealth,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">pleasure,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">recognition,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">religion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet hunger always returns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus claims that only one thing satisfies forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mood-and-tone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mood and Tone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 moves through remarkable emotional changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Wonder.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Excitement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Curiosity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Confusion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Division.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The chapter begins with thousands gathering around Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It ends with only the Twelve remaining.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Bread of Life discourse demonstrates that the same truth which attracts some hearts hardens others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-jesus-will-reveal\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Jesus Will Reveal<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout this chapter Jesus reveals Himself as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the Greater Moses,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the Bread of Life,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the true Manna,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the One sent from heaven,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the Savior of the world,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the giver of eternal life,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">and the Holy One of God.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-lesson-for-us-in-2026\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lesson for Us in 2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every person is hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not merely physically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Spiritually.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is not whether we hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is where we seek satisfaction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything apart from Christ eventually leaves us empty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only the Bread that came down from heaven satisfies forever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-final-reflection\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Final Reflection<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 is not ultimately about food.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about desire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crowds came because they were hungry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some wanted miracles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Others wanted healing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Still others hoped Jesus would become their political king.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Very few wanted Jesus simply because He was Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That question remains painfully relevant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Why do we follow Christ?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because He blesses us?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because He answers prayers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And because He provides?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Or because He alone is worthy?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John 6 gently strips away shallow motives until only genuine faith remains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">By the end of the chapter, almost everyone leaves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only Peter remains to say: <strong>&#8220;Lord, to whom shall we go?
