{"id":4190,"date":"2026-09-03T06:30:00","date_gmt":"2026-09-03T10:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/standingfirminfaith.com\/blog\/?p=4190"},"modified":"2026-08-30T13:29:26","modified_gmt":"2026-08-30T17:29:26","slug":"where-i-am-going-you-cannot-come-john-8-21-30","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/standingfirminfaith.com\/blog\/where-i-am-going-you-cannot-come-john-8-21-30\/","title":{"rendered":"Where I Am Going, You Cannot Come: The Tragic Consequences of Unbelief (John 8:21\u201330)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 id=\"h-the-audience-john-is-writing-to\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Audience John Is Writing To<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John has just recorded Jesus declaring: <strong>&#8220;I am the Light of the world.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Light is shining brightly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet many still refuse to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now Jesus speaks with increasing urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout John&#8217;s Gospel, His invitations have been filled with grace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Believe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Follow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Those invitations remain open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But now another truth emerges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The opportunity to respond is not unlimited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The One who offers eternal life also warns of eternal judgment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not a contradiction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A loving Savior warns before judgment comes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John wants every reader to understand that refusing Christ carries eternal consequences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue is no longer simply misunderstanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is unbelief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>John 8:21-30 NASB<br>Then He said again to them, \u201cI am going away, and you will look for Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.\u201d So the Jews were saying, \u201cSurely He will not kill Himself, will He, since He says, \u2018Where I am going, you cannot come\u2019?\u201d And He was saying to them, \u201cYou are from below, I am from above; you are of this world, I am not of this world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am, you will die in your sins.\u201d Then they were saying to Him, \u201cWho are You?\u201d Jesus said to them, \u201cWhat have I even been saying to you from the beginning? I have many things to say and to judge regarding you, but He who sent Me is true; and the things which I heard from Him, these I say to the world.\u201d They did not realize that He was speaking to them about the Father. So Jesus said, \u201cWhen you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am, and I do nothing on My own, but I say these things as the Father instructed Me. And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him.\u201d As He said these things, many came to believe in Him.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-key-focus-of-the-passage-and-jesus-character\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Key Focus of the Passage and Jesus&#8217; Character<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The focus is <strong>the necessity of believing in Jesus, the tragedy of dying in one&#8217;s sins, and Christ&#8217;s revelation of His divine identity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus reveals Himself as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the eternal I AM,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the One sent from the Father,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the Savior from above,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">and the only escape from sin and judgment.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This passage contains one of the strongest warnings and one of the clearest declarations of Christ&#8217;s deity in John&#8217;s Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-people-in-the-interaction\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The People in the Interaction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\"><strong>Jesus<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The Pharisees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">The religious leaders<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">Members of the crowd listening in the Temple<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-happened-in-the-scene\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Happened in the Scene<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus continues teaching in the Temple.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He tells His listeners: <strong>&#8220;I go away, and you will seek Me, and will die in your sin; where I am going, you cannot come.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The religious leaders misunderstand Him again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They wonder whether He intends to take His own life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus explains the true difference between them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>&#8220;You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then He gives one of the most solemn warnings in Scripture: <strong>&#8220;Unless you believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The crowd asks: <strong>&#8220;Who are You?&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus answers that <strong>He is exactly who He has been declaring from the beginning.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He explains that the Father sent Him and that everything He teaches comes from the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Then He points toward the Cross: <strong>&#8220;When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I AM.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John concludes with an encouraging note.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As Jesus speaks these things: <strong>&#8220;Many came to believe in Him.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-deep-theology-of-dying-in-sin\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Deep Theology of Dying in Sin<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-you-will-die-in-your-sin\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;You Will Die in Your Sin&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of the most sobering statements Jesus ever makes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice He does not merely say: &#8220;You will die.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everyone dies physically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus speaks of something deeper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To die <strong>in<\/strong> one&#8217;s sin means to die still bearing the guilt and penalty of sin before a holy God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tragedy is not physical death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tragedy is entering eternity without reconciliation to God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Throughout John&#8217;s Gospel, eternal life is not merely life after death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, eternal judgment is not merely physical death.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is separation from God because sin remains unforgiven.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-why-does-jesus-say-sin-and-then-sins\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why Does Jesus Say &#8220;Sin&#8221; and Then &#8220;Sins&#8221;?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A fascinating detail appears in the Greek text.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus first says: <strong>&#8220;You will die in your sin.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later He says: <strong>&#8220;You will die in your sins.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many scholars see significance in this progression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The singular emphasizes humanity&#8217;s condition of unbelief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The plural emphasizes the many sinful acts flowing from that condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the heart of every sin stands one great sin:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Rejecting the Son whom the Father has sent.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every other sin remains unforgiven because the only remedy has been rejected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-you-are-from-below\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;You Are From Below&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus contrasts two origins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The religious leaders belong to the fallen world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus comes from above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is not primarily about geography.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is about nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humanity naturally thinks according to earthly categories.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Christ reveals heavenly truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Without divine revelation, people remain unable to understand the things of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John has emphasized this theme since chapter one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The eternal Word entered the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The world did not know Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-unless-you-believe-that-i-am\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Unless You Believe That I AM&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is one of the greatest declarations of Christ&#8217;s deity in the entire Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notice that many English translations supply the word <strong>&#8220;He.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Greek text simply says: <strong>&#8220;Unless you believe that I AM&#8230;&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John intentionally echoes Exodus 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Moses asked God&#8217;s name, the Lord replied: <strong>&#8220;I AM WHO I AM.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus now applies that divine name to Himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is far more than identifying Himself as the Messiah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He identifies Himself with the covenant God of Israel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The issue is not merely believing something about Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is believing <strong>who<\/strong> Jesus truly is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Salvation depends upon receiving the real Christ, not a diminished version created by human imagination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-who-are-you\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;Who Are You?&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ironically, this question has already been answered throughout John&#8217;s Gospel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John the Baptist called Him:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lamb of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nathanael confessed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Son of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Samaritans declared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And the Savior of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Peter proclaimed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Holy One of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet the religious leaders continue asking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not because evidence is lacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But because unbelief continues resisting the truth already revealed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John reminds us that persistent unbelief often demands more evidence while ignoring what God has already graciously provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-when-you-lift-up-the-son-of-man\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;When You Lift Up the Son of Man&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus points toward the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The religious leaders believe crucifixion will prove Him false.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says it will reveal His true identity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John repeatedly uses the phrase <strong>&#8220;lifted up&#8221;<\/strong> with double meaning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus will be lifted upon the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, He will be exalted through the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Humanity sees shame.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">God reveals glory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cross becomes the greatest revelation of both God&#8217;s holiness and God&#8217;s love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Only after the Resurrection will many understand what Jesus meant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-son-speaks-what-the-father-speaks\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Son Speaks What the Father Speaks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Once again Jesus returns to His perfect unity with the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He does not invent His own message.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He faithfully speaks what the Father has entrusted to Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This demonstrates more than obedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It reveals equality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Son perfectly reveals the Father&#8217;s heart because He eternally shares the Father&#8217;s nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every word spoken by Christ is therefore the very revelation of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-he-has-not-left-me-alone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">&#8220;He Has Not Left Me Alone&#8221;<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus says: <strong>&#8220;The One who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This statement anticipates the coming Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Although Jesus will experience the full weight of bearing humanity&#8217;s sin, His life remains one of perfect fellowship with the Father.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">His confidence never rests in public opinion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It rests in the Father&#8217;s presence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This becomes a profound encouragement for believers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faithfulness often brings opposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yet God never abandons those who walk in obedience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-many-believed\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Many Believed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John quietly concludes with hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not everyone rejected Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Many believed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even amid increasing conflict, God&#8217;s Word continued accomplishing its purpose.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This pattern repeats throughout Scripture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some reject.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some receive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Gospel faithfully goes forward because God&#8217;s grace continues drawing people to His Son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-tragedy-of-delayed-faith\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Tragedy of Delayed Faith<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One striking feature of this passage is its urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus repeatedly says: &#8220;You will seek Me.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The implication is heartbreaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There comes a time when seeking is too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Scripture consistently urges people to respond while God&#8217;s invitation remains open.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace should never be presumed upon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today&#8217;s opportunity is itself a gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-mood-and-tone\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Mood and Tone<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The tone moves from <strong>warning \u2192 revelation \u2192 urgency \u2192 hope<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus lovingly warns of eternal consequences while continuing to extend the invitation of eternal life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-what-jesus-reveals\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Jesus Reveals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Jesus reveals Himself as:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"\">the eternal I AM,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the One sent from above,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the perfect revealer of the Father,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">the Savior from sin,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"\">and the exalted Son of Man.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-response-of-others\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Response of Others<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-the-religious-leaders\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Religious Leaders<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They continue questioning Jesus while resisting the truth standing before them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-many-in-the-crowd\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Many in the Crowd<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">They respond with genuine faith as Jesus continues revealing Himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 id=\"h-jesus\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Jesus<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He patiently warns, teaches, and invites while remaining perfectly faithful to the Father&#8217;s mission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 id=\"h-the-lesson-for-us-in-2026\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Lesson for Us in knew what awaited those who rejected Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The same Savior who welcomed weary sinners&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fed hungry crowds&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Offered living water&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And declared Himself the Light of the world&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Now pleads with His listeners not to remain in their sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Love warns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Grace speaks honestly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mercy calls before judgment comes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the center of the passage stands one extraordinary truth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Everything depends upon Jesus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not merely admiring Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Not merely respecting Him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">And not merely acknowledging His existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But believing that <strong>He is the great I AM<\/strong>\u2014the eternal Son sent by the Father to bear our sins upon the Cross.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The One who warns us about dying in our sins is the very One who came to die for our sins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No greater love has ever been shown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No greater invitation has ever been extended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today the same voice still speaks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is not whether Christ is willing to save.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Cross has already answered that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The question is whether we will believe before the opportunity
