Proverbs 4:23-27 NLT
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Avoid all perverse talk; stay away from corrupt speech. Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies before you. Mark out a straight path for your feet; stay on the safe path. Don’t get sidetracked; keep your feet from following evil.
“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life”
How do I guard my heart?
I keep my eyes firmly fixed on the Word of God. What goes into my mind will end up in my heart. And what ends up in my heart manifests in my behavior.
I need to keep my mind anchored in the life-changing wisdom that God provided through His word.
This will guard my mind.
”Look straight ahead, and fix your eyes on what lies ahead.”
What lies ahead is perfection in Jesus Christ.
The way I look ahead is by consistently reminding myself of God’s promises.
This is found in the Bible as well as great biblical preaching and teaching.
Do this as reasonably possible while being of maximum effectiveness in your family, workplace, and church. I need to allow God’s Spirit to be present in every area of my life with no exception. 100% ALL IN for Jesus Christ.
This can be accomplished by getting up an hour early. Going to a quiet place to get into the Bible, meditate, and pray before God, the only solution to the challenges we face.
If we try to squeeze this in during the day, the devil will find a way to keep you away due to the busyness he creates to separate us from the life-giving and life-changing wisdom of God.
1 John 4:4 NLT
But you belong to God, my dear children. You have already won a victory over those people, because the Spirit who lives in you is greater than the spirit who lives in the world.
This passage should give us great hope and courage to live boldly in the face of our busyness and trials in this world.
”You have ALREADY won a victory over those people…”
”Mark out a straight path for your feet..”
We don’t have to see the path to completion. Seeing it from where we are to completion requires no faith in God. But when we step out with no guarantee of success and lean in on God to pull us through, this exercises faith in God, and as we move forward in His will, He will reveal the next step in the path for us to take.
Question is, will I have the courage and faith to see it through?
Heavenly Father, I pray that You take me by the hand, providing me with the courage, faith, and persistence to see it through.
Please help me to keep my mind guarded against the evil influence of this world, keeping my mind and heart-centered on You and You alone know that I will face challenges for my mind and heart daily and moment to moment.
Understanding that when I keep my mind focused on Your promises for my life, You will provide me the guidance I need to see it through.
In the loving and holy name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
