Sometimes our Feelings Can Betray Us, But The Promises Of God Will Never Fail Us

Joshua 22:5 NLT
But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions that Moses gave to you. Love the LORD your God, walk in all his ways, obey his commands, hold firmly to him, and serve him with all your heart and all your soul.”

“But be very careful to obey all the commands and the instructions…”

Certain things repeat themselves repeatedly in the Bible, and one of the major themes is obedience to the Word of God.

Philippians 2:12-13 NLT
Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.

It is by faith that we are saved, a belief that God planted deep in our hearts; he orchestrated events in our lives that eventually lead to our turning to Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. A gift of grace, freely given by God.

Our response after salvation should be a burning desire in our hearts to obey the Word of God.

If this is absent in you, please bring this to God immediately with a humble and submitted heart and beg Him to give you this desire.

Chances are, if the desire to obey God is absent, there may be some unresolved sin that exists that has to be dealt with.

When we start to work these things out with God, the desire to obey will come back, and we are moving forward again.

The focus should not be on where we are at but on the direction we are moving. And this is entirely in our hands.

“Serve Him with all your heart and soul.”

If I’m honest, I don’t always feel like this. Sometimes, I just don’t feel like it.

For me, I am working to recognize this sooner than later so I can bring this to the Lord and start to work on the unresolved sin in my thinking and actions that are blocking this desire in my heart.

James 4:8 NLT
Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your Word. I can trust that You will always come through with Your promises.

I pray that You continue to work in my heart, giving me the desire to obey Your instructions for my life.

I know that I need to lean on You for everything in my life.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
