There is a Key to Successful Living

‘You made me; you created me. Now give me the sense to follow your commands. May all who fear you find in me a cause for joy, for I have put my hope in your word.’ Psalms 119:73-74

Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the Bible, and this chapter reflects on every human emotion with regards to reverence, following and studying the Word of God.

When I think about this fact, that the longest chapter is about the importance of God’s Word to the believer, it produces in me a desire to be in the Word of God as often as I can.

The Word of God is the only place that I will get the proper instructions on how I am to think about my relationship with God and my relationship with others.

Matthew 22:36-40 NLT
“Teacher, which is the most important commandment in the law of Moses?” Jesus replied, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these two commandments.”

When we begin to look at the Word of God from the proper perspective, the way we see the world around us will change in dramatic ways.

I hear a lot of people that say that it is hard to read the Bible because they do not understand it.

I remember a time about fifty years ago when I didn’t even know how to read, let alone being able to read the Bible.

But the teachers kept teaching, and I kept learning and slowly, but surely, I began to learn how to read.

This same principle applies to those who do not understand what they are reading.

The one thing about reading the Bible is that when we have the Holy Spirit living inside of us, He will provide the understanding that we need when we need it.

I am continuously amazed when words that I know I have read before, all of a sudden, leap off the pages at me with meaning. I think to myself, “Why didn’t I see that last time I read that?”

The only thing that I can come up with is that my heart wasn’t ready for it.

And when those things happen, I can’t stop talking or writing about these ideas, which further expands my understanding of the passage.

Matthew 6:33 NLT
Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

The only place and most definitive place for us to and know about the “Kingdom of God” is in the Bible.

Psalm 63:1 NLT
O God, you are my God; I earnestly search for you. My soul thirsts for you; my whole body longs for you in this parched and weary land where there is no water.

For the Christian, we should have a desire to be in God’s Word, similar to our desire to drink water and eat food. As a matter of speaking, I could probably forgo a few meals, but I can’t miss my reading.

John 15:4-6 NLT
Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. “Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing. Anyone who does not remain in me is thrown away like a useless branch and withers. Such branches are gathered into a pile to be burned.

The way we remain in Jesus Christ is by being in His Word.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your Word. I know it is the one place that I will learn what it is to know You and the way I need to look at those around me.

I pray that Your Word continues to shape my attitudes, my thoughts, and my actions. And I pray that my attitudes, thoughts, and actions glorify You in every way.

I thank you for the people You have put in my life, let me have a heart of compassion and unfailing love for all who ask for my help.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
