What Will You Say To Jesus When You Meet Him After Your Last Breath?

Luke 9:28-36 NLT
About eight days later Jesus took Peter, John, and James up on a mountain to pray. And as he was praying, the appearance of his face was transformed, and his clothes became dazzling white. Suddenly, two men, Moses and Elijah, appeared and began talking with Jesus. They were glorious to see. And they were speaking about his exodus from this world, which was about to be fulfilled in Jerusalem.

Peter, James and John seemed to have a special place with Jesus. They were invited to several events that the rest of the disciples were excluded from. They witness Jesus bring people back to life, in this case He invited them up the mountain to pray.

As Jesus was praying “His face was transformed, and His clothes became dazzling white.”

He was met there by Moses and Elijah, they were meeting Him to discuss “His exodus” from this world.

I find this interesting, Moses went to the mountain and died. It says about his death that “The Lord buried him.”

Elijah was taken up to heaven in a chariot of fire.

Moses and Elijah are also mentioned to be the two “witnesses” that will come during the tribulation after the rapture of the church.

Peter and the others had fallen asleep. When they woke up, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with him. As Moses and Elijah were starting to leave, Peter, not even knowing what he was saying, blurted out, “Master, it’s wonderful for us to be here! Let’s make three shelters as memorials— one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

I don’t know about you but sometimes after my reading, I go into prayer only to find myself asleep a little later. This is the first time that it is mentioned that Peter and the others fell asleep while they should have been praying, the other instance is in garden before Jesus was betrayed by Judas.

When they woke up Peter got so excited, he acknowledged that it was wonderful to be there during this event and suggested that they build three shelters as memorials but that was squashed by God.

But even as he was saying this, a cloud overshadowed them, and terror gripped them as the cloud covered them. Then a voice from the cloud said, “This is my Son, my Chosen One. Listen to him.”

This is the second time that God acknowledged that Jesus was His Son and His Chosen One. With a command to “listen to Him.”

When the voice finished, Jesus was there alone. They didn’t tell anyone at that time what they had seen.

After this, “Jesus was there alone.”

In Matthew, this is the account:

Matthew 17:6-8 NLT
The disciples were terrified and fell face down on the ground. Then Jesus came over and touched them. “Get up,” he said. “Don’t be afraid.” And when they looked up, Moses and Elijah were gone, and they saw only Jesus.

I love this account, Jesus “touched them”; said “Get up, don’t be afraid.”

And when they looked up “they saw only Jesus.”

For the Christian, Jesus is all that matters. It is our personal relationship with Him and what we do with what He says. God tells us to “listen to Him.”

For me, I think this is what is going to happen when we take our last breath, I believe that we are going to wake up and it will be us and Jesus alone and we will give an account.

I pray that I hear the words, “Well done. Good and faithful servant.

Heavenly, thank You for sending Jesus to do what we could not do for ourselves.

I pray that You give me the discernment to understand Your Word as well as the strength, courage and ability to follow Your instructions.

I thank You for the opportunity to serve those around me.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
