Why Does Peace Of Mind Seem So Evasive? Our Focus Will Determine Our Peace Of Mind. What Are You Focusing On?

John 15:9-13 NLT
“I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love. When you obey my commandments, you remain in my love, just as I obey my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you these things so that you will be filled with my joy. Yes, your joy will overflow! This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you. There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

If we were honest, the one thing that would bring us joy would be to have peace of mind, knowing that everything is just the way it should be.

So the question is, what is it that takes that feeling away from us?

For me, I think that the one thing that starts to make me unsettled is when things don’t go as I expect them to go, either with my circumstances or what people are doing or are not doing?

For the Christian, I believe our expectations should be that God is orchestrating things that are working for the good of everyone involved.

Romans 8:28 NLT
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.

But our peace of mind comes from the feeling that everything is going our way. It comes from a sense that we have control over everything that is happening.

Our peace of mind is conditional, but the Lord wants us to have faith that steadfast and unwavering.

And the only way that we can have that unshakable peace of mind is when we focus on God as the source of everything we need.

Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.

It is our faith in God that brings about the peace of mind that we seek.

Hebrews 11:1-2 NLT
Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see. Through their faith, the people in days of old earned a good reputation.

Obedience to God’s commands brings about joy. And furthermore, that same obedience stands as proof in our faith in God. Obedience also shows the love we have for our creator.

1 John 4:18-19 NLT
Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love. We love each other because he loved us first.

Heavenly Father, Help me to love those around me in response to the love that You have bestowed onto me.

I thank You for the opportunity to serve You, and I pray that I serve with a willing and submitted heart.

I thank You for those You place in my life, and I pray that the light of Jesus Christ shines brightly in thoughts, attitudes, words, and actions.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
