One Step Forward and Two Steps Back? Frustrating Right?

‘And when people escape from the wickedness of the world by knowing our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and then get tangled up and enslaved by sin again, they are worse off than before. It would be better if they had never known the way to righteousness than to know it and then reject the command they were given to live a holy life. ‘ 2 Peter 2:20-21

Philippians 3:16
“But we must hold on to the progress we have already made.”

With every fiber of our being, we must hold on to the gains in our spiritual walk.

This doesn’t mean that we will be perfect but we must develop the ability to recognize and fall to our faces before Jesus when we are walking out of His will for our lives.

How do we recognize when we are getting out of step with the Lord?

Galatians 5:22-23
“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!”

When we are struggling with ANY of the fruits listed above, we are out of step with the Lord.

Having discernment in this area is vital and having a strong support network and being active in that network is key because, we may not see it for ourselves. And we need loving, supporting and compassionate people in our lives who can speak boldly and with love into our lives.

And we must be humble and open to this feedback in order to continue to grow spiritually.

Heavenly Father, please give me that humble heart ❤️ submitted to Your will. I pray for the discernment, ability, and will to recognize when I am out of step with Your Spirit and the humility to be open to feedback from the spiritual support network that I have set up in advance to help me with my spiritual growth. And all of this to reflect the glory of Jesus Christ, the Lord of my life. Amen!! 🙏❤️
