When Is The Right Time To Correct The Thoughts of Those Around You, The Answer May Suprise You

Proverbs 9:7-9 NLT
Anyone who rebukes a mocker will get an insult in return. Anyone who corrects the wicked will get hurt. So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you. But correct the wise, and they will love you. Instruct the wise, and they will be even wiser. Teach the righteous, and they will learn even more.

Do you find yourself in “discussions” on Facebook, Twitter, or any other social media form with people who have the opposite opinion on something other than what you have?

Does it bother you when people talk bad about a person you feel is doing a good job?

Do you feel that sometimes you just have to speak up for what you believe?

Acts 2:9-13 NLT
Here we are—Parthians, Medes, Elamites, people from Mesopotamia, Judea, Cappadocia, Pontus, the province of Asia, Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, and the areas of Libya around Cyrene, visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism), Cretans, and Arabs. And we all hear these people speaking in our own languages about the wonderful things God has done!” They stood there amazed and perplexed. “What can this mean?” they asked each other. But others in the crowd ridiculed them, saying, “They’re just drunk, that’s all!”

When we are saved and start to speak about our faith in God with others, we will be met with several responses to our faith.

Some will be amazed. These will be the people who see the difference in your life immediately and know that something is different in you.

Some will be perplexed. These will be the people who don’t understand what is going on. They will be confused and ask questions of us.

Some will mock what has happened. These are the people who have it all figured out already.

I’m not sure why it is, but it seems that we have to defend our faith against the loudest voices against it. But this is not Biblical.

Today’s verse says, “So don’t bother correcting mockers; they will only hate you.”

Trying to convince someone who mocks our beliefs is an exercise in futility. It is a wasted effort that will never produce any fruit in our lives. Our time can be better spent working with those who want to learn and change.

So what do you do with that group?

Nothing. That group is in God’s hands.

The next thing to consider about being influential with our words is that our life is a reflection of the faith that we proclaim.

If what we say doesn’t line up with what can be observed by others, we need to bring this before God and ask Him to help us.

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your wisdom. I pray that You continue working in my heart.

I pray, Lord, that You put someone in my path today that I can share Your grace with today.

I thank You for Your love, grace, mercy, and forgiveness.

In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray, Amen!! 🙏❤️
